PocketSom Privacy Policy

PocketSom ("we," "us," "the app") is a wine-recommendation companion.
This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We do
not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps or
websites.
Information we collect
- Account identity. When you sign in with Apple or
Google, we receive a user identifier and, where you permit it, your
email address. We use this only to create and secure your account.
- Your taste data. The wine descriptions you write,
wines you heart or save, tasting notes, chat messages, and the taste
profile we derive from them. This is the core of the app — it powers
your recommendations.
- Photos you provide. Bottle and wine-list photos
you choose to capture or upload. These are sent to our AI provider to
identify the wine or read the menu, and are not retained long-term on
our servers after processing.
- Voice input. If you use voice tasting notes or
voice dictation, audio is transcribed to text. On supported devices
this happens entirely on-device; on older devices it may use Apple's
speech-recognition service. We store the resulting text, not the
audio.
How we use it
- To generate and personalize your wine recommendations.
- To save your library (favorites, wishlist, tasting notes) and sync
it across your devices.
- To operate, secure, and improve the app.
We use your data only to provide app functionality. We do not use it
for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Service providers
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication.
Your account and taste data are stored here, protected by per-user
access controls.
- Anthropic — provides the AI (Claude) that
generates recommendations and analyzes the photos you submit.
- Apple & Google — provide sign-in.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security
and privacy commitments.
Data retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can clear your wine
data at any time in Settings → Reset wine data, and you
can permanently delete your entire account and all associated data in
Settings → Delete Account. Deleting your account
removes your authentication record and your per-user data from our
systems.
Children
PocketSom is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is not
directed to children.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the
date above.
